Mark’s been working late the last couple of nights, so I’ve had my summer mommy’s helper, Sher, stay late to help with late afternoon activities/dinner/bath/bedtime. After tonight I’m a bit worried about how she might perceive me. Continue reading

Impromptu mall photo shoot with Santa
So today after I arrived home from work, Mark’s mom wanted to go shopping at Maurice’s at the mall, so I thought this sounded great. We got there without issue with the exception of me having to google an instructional video on how to fold up the BOB stroller, because I’d forgotten. (Mark is a beast and normally just carries this ginormous baby everywhere we go, so we rarely haul along the stroller.) Continue reading
Peanut
The other day I was perusing Instagram, and I stumbled upon a D-list celebrity’s page, and she’d just made a sponsored post for a newish app called Peanut. It’s basically like Tinder for mommies – you sign up, and it shows mommies near you, and you can swipe a certain way if you think you have something in common, or another way if you think you don’t, and when you find someone, instead of hooking up, I guess you can meet at a park or coffee shop for a playdate… Continue reading
And then there was one (maybe)… A tale of six sitters and a SAHM.
So, I had hired three babysitters to help me care for Joel this fall, but it seems, in a bit of a plot twist, I’m charging about 100 miles per hour towards stay at home mom (SAHM), and still also working mom, status. Continue reading
Public interactions
So we got a new SUV, and Emily’s boyfriend bought our Hyundai. After the transaction closed, she was like, “OMG – I can’t even handle it. SO much is happening.” Oh, girl… To be young and naïve again. (I love her, by the way.) Continue reading
Little fishes swimming school
Today I took Joel to swimming lessons for the first time. Joel seems to be super amphibious (read: he splashes around in the bath), and he also has a long torso and huge hands, and he’ll probably be insanely tall, which reminds me of a documentary I once watched about Michael Phelps – he has similar features, which basically predestined him for Olympic gold (times 23), so I figured there’s no better time than the present for Joel to start on the road to his own similar destiny. Continue reading
Self-destruction and Uber experiences
11,387 – This is the number of kicks I logged on my kick counting app… And this is only from June 26 through July 27. I’m pretty sure I started logging kicks prior to June 26. (I deleted my history several times as I tried to graph kick patterns, which never really worked…) Continue reading
Thought dump
Mark and I were recently looking at my baby book/calendar, and we noticed a “special visitor” sticker to signify one of my milestones. But my mom failed to clarify who said “special visitor” was… So me thinks this person probably wasn’t very special at all. Continue reading
My “journey” with breastfeeding and back into society… Sort of.
My mom thinks she was a super paranoid, protective parent, but in some ways she failed because she allowed me to ride the school bus when I was in sixth grade, and our school bus driver, Rodney, later was fired (and arrested) for drunk driving. And this was all before the orthodontist she so carefully selected for us was indicted for felony cocaine possession. (No wonder my jaw clicks to this day.) Continue reading
