Third not second; three not two

Oh hi there. Since I last posted, I’ve been (surprisingly) successfully knocking out my massive to-do list, as well as just trying to survive. For those interested, Finch seems to be doing well. Also, I flirted with a late-onset gestational diabetes diagnosis for a few days, but, alas, after about eleven finger pricks to take my blood sugars, it’s been determined that I don’t have it. So just another stop on my maternal fetal medicine schooling rotation, I guess. Continue reading

Unsolved mysteries

First, Mark’s mom bought Joel a Fisher Price Little People manger scene, and it’s mega-elaborate and has a ton of pieces. She’s great about teaching Joel associations, meaning she’ll point at Baby Jesus in a book and then show him the real Baby Jesus in the manger scene, and she usually does this at breakfast. Or lunch. Or dinner. Continue reading

So much to do, so little time

Tonight I resurrected my rainbow chain, which I’ll use to help me count the days down to Finch’s scheduled birth date, except the links are Christmas colors (rather than rainbow colors) this time… Also, the chain is much shorter compared to last time (I’ve constructed it later in this pregnancy), which is good, because ohhh emmm geee, you guys, 70 links last time was excessive, equivalent to making a Christmas countdown chain in early OCTOBER. Erased (warning: this may be incoherent)

Ughhhhh, I’m supposed to be working on budget stuff, but I had a therapy appointment at 7:00am, and it was so extra draining, which usually catches me by surprise, as I’m already pretty drained and also accustomed to talking about Matthew and my issues, but my therapist has a talent for asking me questions that dig deep and reduce me to tears and heaving sobs almost immediately. Also, I learned that my therapist used to be a stockbroker, which isn’t contributing to my emotional reaction, but it does blow my mind. So I feel like I need to process some of this here before I actually go about my day – like when I spew things onto the internet I can function better… Continue reading

10 things from today

1)       Our doctor’s appointment for baby Finch went as well as it could go. We started with the non-stress test, and the nurse had to try to locate Finch’s heartbeat, and, even though I knew he was alive, because he was moving, I couldn’t hear his heartbeat that strongly because the sound on the machine was turned down, so I got really light headed and thought I was either about to have a seizure or pass out, but luckily it was neither, and I was able to recover after a few sips of water. Halloween recap

I’m copying my friend Brooke and maybe some others because I guess this is a thing, but I’m going to try to blog every day in November (and then some because I’m already two days behind) and who knows what I’ll say but I’m thinking some people might unfollow me, and I’ve made peace with this. But then again, some might be bored and looking to read about me every day of their life, so it balances out. Continue reading
