It was difficult to know what/how much to tell Joel about Howie. The morning after we put Howie down, I probably did everything child psychologists tell you NOT to do as it relates to explaining death to kids… I first didn’t say anything at all. Then, when Joel, with a confused look on his face, went to go feed Howie, I explained, “Howie took a vacation.” He seemed to accept this much to my relief. Continue reading

Joel is more responsible than we are…
…And sometimes it borders on embarrassing (like that he’s, in some situations, essentially the parental figure). I’m thinking some of this is normal two year old stuff, and some of this is extra, but I have no clue since I don’t have many friends or family members. Continue reading
I’mmmm baaack, b!tches! (summer update, part 1)
I haven’t posted since Matthew’s birthday. It’s been almost two months. I intend to start posting more regularly again as well as become more engaged with my blog in general now that I’m no longer attempting to work a full-time accounting job in the evenings, so first thing’s first – a quick update on the remainder of the summer – just the things that stand out in my mind.
Quitting my job and keeping my ride
I resigned from my job yesterday. Yep – Justice Kennedy and I both. Continue reading
#realtalk #sh!tstorm
Mark’s been working late the last couple of nights, so I’ve had my summer mommy’s helper, Sher, stay late to help with late afternoon activities/dinner/bath/bedtime. After tonight I’m a bit worried about how she might perceive me. Continue reading
EVERY parent experiences anxiety my a$$
So I’ve been guilty of uttering, “My first child died, so I have anxiety about XYZ <insert almost any parenting related thing under the sun>,” as though no other parent has ever experienced anxiety. And usually whomever is on the receiving end of my statement either validates me or (more often, it seems) reminds me, “Oh, but EVERY new parent experiences anxiety – hahaha (yes, they sometimes laugh).” Continue reading
Job prospects for Joel
Some job prospects are emerging for Joel based on his personality/interests… Continue reading
So Furniture Mark isn’t our biggest fan…
Today we went on our first family outing (since Fredrik’s arrival) in pursuit of a La-Z-Boy recliner. That’s right. We’re going full on hillbilly here (no offense to La-Z-Boy lovers) because we have tried the Pinterest Perfect Pottery Barn Gray Nursery Chair, and 15 minutes in it will have anyone wanting to phone their chiropractor. Continue reading
Impromptu mall photo shoot with Santa
So today after I arrived home from work, Mark’s mom wanted to go shopping at Maurice’s at the mall, so I thought this sounded great. We got there without issue with the exception of me having to google an instructional video on how to fold up the BOB stroller, because I’d forgotten. (Mark is a beast and normally just carries this ginormous baby everywhere we go, so we rarely haul along the stroller.) Continue reading

I hope Thanksgiving was as gentle on everyone as possible. I wanted to write something about how one can be both grateful and grieving at the same time, but I didn’t, so instead I wrote a list of things I felt (I laughed, cried, did all those things)/am feeling at the moment. Continue reading
