I resigned from my job yesterday. Yep – Justice Kennedy and I both. Continue reading

Runaway trailer; life just loves robbing me of my sanity
Last weekend Mark and Joel went on a father/son outing. They took the Dodge Ram 70 miles down I-44 to Cuba, MO to a place called Cowtown USA to pick up a camping trailer that I think we’ll probably never use, but Mark thinks we’ll use ten times per year, which is kind of a disparity… (Joel sat on some riding lawnmowers and boats, and then they ate some barbeque food as well.) I just can’t even with this description. I swear next thing I know it we’ll be raising goats, or hogs, in our backyard. I’ll be like my work friend who has a goat named Pinesol. Continue reading
How is this my life?
So this weekend we got Fredrik baptized. Coincidentally the pastor of our church (I say “our church,” but we aren’t officially members – they were nice enough to allow Fredrik to be baptized there nonetheless) was preaching a message on tragedy… Continue reading
I’m alive, and I have some (unimportant) updates.
Oh hey there. So I’m actually not dead. I feel like maybe people could be wondering. Like the other day, I was texting with some friends, and there’s this baby loss mom who hadn’t blogged or posted on Instagram in quite some time or whatever, so we were literally fearing the worst (until we found her), so I’m hoping no one has been searching for my obituary, but who the hell knows? But, on second thought, I’ve been posting on Instagram, so this isn’t an apples to apples comparison. Continue reading
EVERY parent experiences anxiety my a$$
So I’ve been guilty of uttering, “My first child died, so I have anxiety about XYZ <insert almost any parenting related thing under the sun>,” as though no other parent has ever experienced anxiety. And usually whomever is on the receiving end of my statement either validates me or (more often, it seems) reminds me, “Oh, but EVERY new parent experiences anxiety – hahaha (yes, they sometimes laugh).” Continue reading
Job prospects for Joel
Some job prospects are emerging for Joel based on his personality/interests… Continue reading
So Furniture Mark isn’t our biggest fan…
Today we went on our first family outing (since Fredrik’s arrival) in pursuit of a La-Z-Boy recliner. That’s right. We’re going full on hillbilly here (no offense to La-Z-Boy lovers) because we have tried the Pinterest Perfect Pottery Barn Gray Nursery Chair, and 15 minutes in it will have anyone wanting to phone their chiropractor. Continue reading
Mother nature is cruel
We don’t give Joel much screen time; however, on Super Bowl Sunday we made an exception and turned on the television. Prior to the Super Bowl we caught part of the Puppy Bowl, or I guess a story about the origins of it (on Animal Planet?), which was wonderful, because Joel LOVES puppies. So it was a great opportunity for us as a family to zone out together in front of the TV, and Mark and I could still feel good about ourselves, because we reasoned that Joel was getting extra time with his favorite animal, at least virtually. Backyard bliss
So it’s cold here. Like negative something degrees. And I’m pretty much confined to my house, because… Germs. And I’m wanting to write about a lighter topic, because these last several months have been a bit intense, and, not surprisingly, my feelings are still pretty intense… (Hello, PPA and PPD – so nice of you to visit me again.) And also because I have little energy. And also because the outdoors are on my mind, because I’m perpetually looking out the window at them, unable to enjoy them, my cabin fever beginning to rage… So here’s an update on the other event that defined our 2017 besides the arrival of baby Fredrik (who’s doing well, by the way)… Our backyard renovation! Life update
Last Friday we found that Finch’s cord was in a nuchal wrap, which freaked me out so bad, so we ended up visiting the Maternity Trauma Center on Saturday afternoon, and all was well, so we were discharged. By yesterday, Finch had worked his way out of his nuchal wrap. Continue reading
